Bukta Tromso Open Air Festival

The Bukta Festival is the greatest music event in Norway which annually takes place in July in an open air in Telegrafbukta. The festival is organized by a non-commercial administration board with Robert Dyrnes as a manager and a group of volunteers; there is also some help from Tromso’s organization called Kafe X which provides a variety of entertainment and cultural activities. Besides the festival, there is a tradition of a morning concert which is free and has no age limits; moreover; it is non-alcoholic and family-friendly. Both local and international performers have acted at morning concerts such as Magnet, Fingerprince, Turboneger, Desert Highway, Madrugada, Vishnu, HGH and Turdus Musicus.
The Bukta festival was founded in 2004 after successful experience of North to Nowhere festival which took place in the area two years running before. According to the essay paper, the first 2004 festival attracted 5,000 rock fans whose number has been only increasing since then. Initially it was supposed to be a two-day open air festival, but its popularity made the administration to add a day and one more stage and expand the variety of artists. The Bukta festival is a beloved destination of rock performers and the audience. The essay writers claim that the most world-known rock representatives at the Bukta have been Patti Smith, Mew, Phoenix, Kaizers Orchestra, Supersuckers, Iggy Pop , Leningrad Cowboys, The Stooges, Woven Hand, The Vibrators and others. Among the local artists there are names of Bigbang, Raga Rockers, Soundre Lerche, The Jessica Fletchers and more.
